Who doesn’t love a bit of wedding cake? When we host a wedding, seeing the cake is a highlight for our team. Not just because we are wondering how good it tastes – and knowing the suppliers a lot of our couples use, they’ll taste VERY good – but also because often the wedding cake really showcases each couple’s personalities.

Gone are the days of when it was a fruit cake or nothing – now the world is your oyster. We could post every single wedding cake we’ve admired, and it would tell you a story about the bride and groom, but for now, we’ll focus on sharing five wedding cakes to inspire you when it comes to yours.

The traditional wedding cake

Traditional doesn’t have to mean old-fashioned, and this beautiful cake designed by Ce Ce Cakes for Rebecca and Sam proves that. It’s three nearly naked layers, decorated with the prettiest of flowers.

Going for bold

The stunning wedding cake from Kimmy’s Cakes goes to show just how effective adding colour to your cake can be. This rich rust hue adds an earthy yet luxurious vibe – you can see more of this stunner right here.

The chocolate lovers’ wedding cake

Chocoholics Shell and Tom, who wed in our Barn, went all out with this four-tiered cake topped with every chocolate you could imagine. From Toblerone’s, to Chocolate Orange segments, and Curly Wurley’s, we can’t help wondering whether the bride or groom had the last Rolo.

Keeping it simple

There’s a lot to be said for keeping it simple, and this cake by Confetti Cakery is a perfect example. Stunning, with smooth white layers, dappled with shades of pink, and finished with a simple pink rose in the same shades, this wedding cake makes a statement without trying too hard.

The wedding cake that isn’t a cake

If cake isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other options. We love the cheese ‘cake’ option that one of our couples, Karl and Lucy, opted for. Layers of their favourite cheese, stacked and topped with a bouquet of grapes, not only looked delicious, but also made the perfect evening feast for their guests.
