Blossom trees and glass baubles were the prettiest adornments for Clare and Mike’s June wedding held in the rustic wedding barn at Healing Manor Hotel.

Clare and Mike married on 3 June 2023 in a rustic celebration in our historic barn, following their celebrant-led ceremony with a wedding breakfast and evening party. The barn looked spectacular dressed with blossom trees, glass baubles and candles by Jess from Love In The Limelight, along with pretty pink tones.

The couple, who met at university, got engaged in Minnewater Park in Brugge, Belgium and chose to have a June wedding.

“We loved the wedding barn and beautiful surroundings. Jess from Love in the Limelight got us beautiful blossom trees and made the barn look very romantic with candles and glass baubles.”

Clare and Mike asked Gary of GJA Photography to record the day, resulting in these lovely photos.

“We loved his style and clicked really well with him. The photos are beautiful.”

The groom chose a three-piece, single-breasted grey suit from Slater Menswear with Versace Oxford shoes and a soft pink tie, whilst the bride choose a beautifully-fitted gown from Wed4Less in Stockport.

“My dress was called ‘You Are Everything To Me’. I loved the glitter and the cut was very flattering and elegant. My pearl bracelet was from The Pearl Source and my pearl earrings from Beaverbrooks. These were gifts from Mike on the day. My heart-shape necklace was a locket in remembrance of my mum.”

“Our wedding rings were platinum court rings from from Gladstones Jewellers.”

Jo from Blooms at Borrowdale put together the summery wedding flowers, just perfect for the sunny June wedding day, and also created a floral comb for Clare’s hair.

“We chose pinks and whites with loose, rustic foliage. We had lots of freesias in memory of my mum. There were lots of green leaves and roses.”

The bride and her bridesmaids asked Carly of Lincolnshire Hair and Makeup to style them for the June wedding.

“Carly was great and did a fantastic job on my bridesmaids. We asked her to do my auntie’s make-up as a treat for her and she was happy to do it.”

The wedding ceremony was held in the Barn and led by Sam Lockwood of Swan Celebrancy. The bride walked in with her dad and her two bridesmaids – her twin sister Jenny and her friend Claire.

“I walked down the aisle to ‘I’m Kissing You’ by Des’ree.”

“Sam wrote a custom ceremony for us. We wrote our own vows and signed the certificate to ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ by Jem. We walked out to ‘Suddenly’ by Angry Anderson (the iconic music from Scott and Charlene’s wedding in ‘Neighbours’ from the 1980s).”

“Our favourite part was walking out from the ceremony and having petals thrown over us before having a glass of Champagne and mingling with our guests.”

The newly-weds and their guests moved into the barn for the wedding breakfast.

“We had a choice of smoked salmon or tomato soup followed by fish and chips or chicken risotto. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding or cheesecake. We chose fish and chips as that’s what we used to have each Valentine’s Day when we first started dating. We had a vegan option of tomato soup, cauliflower risotto and chocolate cake. Everyone loved the food. It was absolutely amazing.”

“For the night party we had barbecue food which was served outside as the sun went down.”

The wedding cake, adorned with delicate cherry blossoms, was created by Mike’s brother in law’s mum, Jackie Crawford.

“Jackie made an amazing three-tier chocolate, lemon drizzle and carrot cake wedding cake with white icing and cherry blossom decorations.”

As well as music and dancing, there was a fun quiz, from Steve Jackson Entertainment.

“Steve is a long-time friend of Mike’s from pub quizzing. He provided an excellent selection of songs to dance to as well as karaoke and, on our request, a speed quiz based on us which went down very well and was a lot of fun. Apparently, it was the first wedding speed quiz ever according to Steve’s friends.”

“Our first dance was ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ by Alisha Keys. We had a little routine planned but it was scuppered somewhat by the size of the dress. We did ok though.”

“We had an amazing day and everyone loved the venue and the food. We had people traveling from all over the country and internationally, and it was amazing to have them stay with us at the venue.”

Advice for other couples

“Definitely use the barn. We loved it when the lights were down for the party and the fairy lights had their full effect.”
