A lot of time and effort goes into planning a perfect wedding, and the build up to the big day can be fairly full on – although, here at Healing Manor Hotel we’re always on hand to help ease the load.  Many couples make the mistake of thinking once you’ve said your ‘I do’s’ that’s it, done and dusted, time to recharge with the honeymoon and enjoy the romantic newlywed stage. Oh, if only! But never fear, here we are, on hand to remind you of a few things you need to do once you’re back home and to reality.

Name changing and who to tell

A big one, and one not everyone chooses to do, changing your name. If you’re thinking of taking your partners surname, you can find out all the information to do so here. If you do decide to change your name, once you’ve done the legal stuff that’s not it, there’s lots of people to tell. You need to follow up with utility companies, change your driver’s license, bank account, credit cards, and passport. The passport is obviously a big one, when you’ve booked your perfect honeymoon make sure whatever name you’re travelling under matches your passport otherwise your other half might end up on their honeymoon alone!

Leave a review for your suppliers

When the big day is over, and you’re still revelling in the buzz, why not take the time to thank the people who helped make it a day to remember?  These days, the internet is teaming with competitors, so a review makes all the difference. From your planner, florist, venue (!) and photographer down to your hairstylist and the team who created your cake and stationery. Let them know how pleased you are, and by helping them, you’re also helping other people have the peace of mind that they’ll also be safe in their hands.

Thank You Notes

Once you’ve thanked your suppliers, the next job is to thank your guests. We know, we know, this can be seen as old fashioned, but a handwritten thank-you card is still considered a the perfect gesture to send to those who helped celebrate your big day. If you’ve had a big wedding, just writing a few a day will get the job done without it seeming too daunting, and we can guarantee that the recipients will be thrilled to receive them.

Pre-empt the post wedding blues

We know it probably sounds silly, but post wedding blues really are a thing, and we’re not surprised. After months, or even years, of planning all things wedding and honeymoon, it can then feel as though it’s over before you know it. So, the obvious solution – to us – is to plan some things over the next few months to look forward to. Obviously in the early days there’s keepsake boxes to make, photo albums to compile, and the other picture perfect tasks we’ve mentioned, but then what? Perhaps something like treating yourself to one of our overnight staycation offers here, at Healing Manor Hotel? Or booking in to celebrate anniversaries over the years to come…

Keepsake Box

As mentioned above, a keepsake or memory box is a perfect way to avoid the post wedding blues and look back with a smile on your special day. There are some brilliantly personalised ones available out there, that you can fill with everything from dried bouquets to a copy of your invite, photos of the big day and any readings that you may have had during the ceremony. Pop it somewhere safe, and we guarantee it will be the perfect way to look back on your special day if you ever need a pick-me-up or walk down memory lane.
