It’s an absolute pleasure to share this summer wedding today. Not only is it an utterly beautiful, elegant celebration with vibrant tones of hot pink and emerald green, so many of the talented wedding suppliers feature on our recommended supplier list.

Please meet Lindsay and Liam, who wed on 4 June 2022 at All Saints Church in Waltham, followed by a barn wedding celebration here at Healing Manor Hotel. Inspired by Lindsay’s favourite colour, hot pink, the wedding was a traditional affair with meaningful details added by the couple.

“Since getting engaged in 2019, I knew it was where we would love our reception to be, close to our home in Waltham and the perfect back drop for our amazing day. We come to The Pig & Whistle regularly and have always loved the food.”

“I planned the whole day from start to finish. I love organising events, girls’ days out and holidays so I knew this was a task I would love even more; planning is my passion.”

“We had a church service at All Saints Church in Waltham, followed by a barn reception. There were no cultural values or preferences, just the traditional wedding we had always dreamed of.”

The couple met in Cleethorpes, O’Neill’s to be precise, back in 2010.

“I was out with friends, one being Billy who ended up being Liam’s best man. Billy introduced us because I told him I thought Liam was good looking. He went over to him and said so, and ever since that day we have been together. It was the best day of my life.”

With hot pink being the bride’s favourite colour, she always knew she wanted it to feature throughout her wedding, in the flowers and her bridesmaids’ gowns.

“I had an idea of emerald green along with hot pink, so I went onto Pinterest, created a board and started to look for everything I wanted.”

Setting the scene with the bridesmaids’ gowns, a mix of silk gowns in emerald green and oyster from ASOS.

“I knew hot pink would just look amazing with the dresses, so it was hot pink shoes and hot pink flowers to tie it all in.”

The florist for the day was Blooms at Borrowdale, whose arrangements are classic yet super-modern with their lush foliage and pops of vibrant colour.

“Once I had picked the bridesmaid dresses, the flowers were the next big thing. Jo from Blooms blew me away when we met – her imagination for creating my dream flowers made me so excited. She is so incredible, talented and creative. From the minute I met her, she loved my colour scheme and couldn’t wait to do everything for me. She’s so fabulous and I would recommend Jo to anybody.”

The church flowers were arranged by Dennis’s Flowers & Plants.

“Andy Dennis he is my best friend’s dad and has been in the industry for over 25 years. He’s amazing and so talented.”

The bride selected a stunning gown by Enzoani from Hummingbird Bridal Studio. For the summer wedding day, she layered the fitted, lacy gown with an overskirt, full of volume and movement.

“My sister found the bridal shop on Instagram and booked me an appointment. I went with my two sisters Kirsty and Tia, my mum Karen, my mother in law Kim and my sister in law Hannah.”

“We all each picked a dress and the first dress I picked from the shop was the one I ended up buying. Rebecca, the shop owner, made me feel like a million dollars from start to finish and made the whole experience so memorable for us all.”

“The dress was just perfect. I didn’t know my style or what I wanted but when I walked out in this dress the whole room filled with tears (happy one), including me. I envisioned walking down the aisle to the love of my life in that dress, and I certainly did three years later.”

The bride’s veil was her ‘something borrowed’; her sister’s veil from her wedding in 2018, originally bought from Coates Couture.

Lindsay’s best friend gifted her ASOS heels, and she kept the rest of her accessories simple.

The bridal party’s hair and make-up were styled by two of our fantastic recommended suppliers, Kate Atkinson Makeup Artist and Jade Clay MUA.

“Kate Atkinson did myself, the mother of the bride and my maid of honour Kirsty. She is the loveliest women with the biggest heart. Jade Clay did my other five bridesmaids. They were both insane from start to finish – we all felt and looked incredible. Jade is full of energy and love, they both are amazing.”

Whilst the girls got ready, Liam and his groomsmen were dressing in light tweed suits from Moss Bros. The day was covered from start to finish by two exceptionally-talented local photographic teams, James Green Studio and James Williams Photography.

“I have SOOOO much to say about James Green & Merika. They are honestly the best around, the loveliest people, and go above and beyond to make sure your day is as wonderful as you dreamt. I feel I have made friends for life. I have always followed James and Merika on social media and the minute I got engaged I knew I wanted them. They stuck with us through changing our wedding in Covid times and am so pleased we made it all work.”

“James Williams is absolutely incredible. James joined Merika and James and captured our day as well. He is another photographer who is the best and a joy to have around. His personality is bright and bubbly and he makes you feel so special.”

The couple also opted to have a wedding video made, by Andy Stelmach Wedding Filmmaker.

“I had been looking for a videographer for a while and came across Andy, who filmed a wedding at Healing Manor for some friends of ours, Jack and Emma Gale. I watched the video and fell in love, messaged Andy and booked him instantly. Andy is one of the nicest guys I have ever met; so funny, bubbly and so happy! We cannot wait to get the video back and share it with you.”

The wedding ceremony took place in All Saints Church and was a traditional service with personal additions.

“The wedding ceremony was held at our local church in Waltham. My wonderful dad, Ian Drummond, walked me down the aisle.. it was magical. We walked into ‘Tenerife Sea’ by Ed Sheeran.”

“My best friend and bridesmaid did a reading for us which was magical. This wasn’t a traditional or religious reading but the wording was very special to me when I picked it; it was more of a love poem.”

After the service, the newly-weds travelled to Healing Manor Hotel for their reception, hosted in our historic and beautifully restored wedding barn. To help them style and dress the barn, they enlisted the help of another of our recommended suppliers, Jack Loves Jill.

James Green Studio

“Amy was incredible from the moment we messaged and she brought my whole vision to life. She loved my idea of hot pink and black, and turned my dream venue into my dream fairytale wedding. When I walked into the room. I was overwhelmed by all the people I love being there – it just felt magical. Amy created all our name tags, sweet table and table plan, along with the whole room décor.”

“Katy at Dove & Lace created my beautiful welcome sign along with all my table names. Katy also did my invitations and brought my vision to life with hot pink bows and the works.”

“My favourite parts of the day were the ceremony and walking down the aisle to Liam after all the waiting, and also walking in as Mr and Mrs Blades to our wedding breakfast and feeling the amount of love in the room cheering for us. My heart could burst thinking about those moments.”

The newly-weds sat down to a wedding breakfast created by our chefs here at Healing Manor Hotel, with a menu selected to suit the summer season.

Starters were a choice of prawn cocktail, chicken liver paté or bruschetta, followed by a main course of beef Bourguignon, Oscar Cleve beer battered fish and chips, or lamb shank. Finally, the meal finished with a selection of sticky toffee pudding, vanilla cheesecake or chocolate brownie.

“My husband and his sister are allergic to nuts and that was taken care of.”

Whilst the guests ate, there was live music from The Mardy Johnny Depps.

“We had them play as we eat. They were incredible and their voices so magical. The whole room felt the love after the speeches; it was amazing.”

Later on, there was a decadent wedding cake, perfectly decorated for the summer wedding, by Cakes by Scarlet Ribbons.

“She did my sister’s wedding cake in 2018 and it was incredible so I just knew I wanted to book with her. She was fabulous from start to finish. We had chocolate because it’s my fave, lemon as it’s Liam’s fave and sponge because why not? Everyone likes that.”

Following a fun set by Sax Every Weekend, there was dancing to music from DJ Andy Carr.

“Our first dance song was an acoustic version of ‘Latch’ by Versiones Acusticas.

“Sax Every Weekend’s sax and bongo drums were absolutely insane and they made our whole night incredible! They got everyone involved and we loved every minute of being on the dance floor with them!”

The final touch for entertainment was a photo booth from The Social Booths.

“The photo booth was amazing. We loved them being a part of our special night, capturing moments of everyone including us.”
