There is something inherently magical about a spring wedding in Lincolnshire, and on Saturday 16 May, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Abigail and Kiel at Healing Manor for their beautiful wedding day.
Bringing together a stunning palette of champagne and mauve, a spectacular dress reveal, and plenty of heartfelt, family-focused moments, their spring wedding in our Barn was nothing short of perfection.

Finding the Perfect Inspiration
For many couples, settling on a cohesive theme can feel like a daunting task, especially with the wealth of ideas available online. Abigail and Kiel found their direction by looking at seasonal trends and trusting their instincts.
“A lot of girls or couples know exactly what they want for their wedding day, even before getting engaged, but we never did.”
“We weren’t sure what style we wanted to go for. I ended up looking on Pinterest and Instagram, and Googling the best themes for May. This is when we came across a themes of champagne and mauve, I was going back and forth between them, looking at other people’s photos and could not decide. That’s when we thought why are we trying to choose one when these colours go perfectly together.”
“I feel that everything just falls into place as soon as you pick your colours or a specific theme, as you can then narrow down your search for table pieces, flowers, the type of cake you want… etc.!”
The Outfits: Elegance and Custom Details
Abigail looked breathtaking in a classic, structured gown with a striking bow detail at the back, which she paired with a delicate veil and headband.
“My wedding dress was from Wed2B. I found the dress online so when I walked into the store, I tried it on first and fell in love with it. I did try on a few different styles, including ones I knew I weren’t really my style, just to definitely rule these out. I also got my accessories – veil and headband – from this store.”
Kiel wore a sharp, tailored three-piece suit from Marc Darcy, a choice he “fell in love with straight away” after seeing it on display. The brand didn’t supply trousers for their 18-month-old son, leading to a frantic search across multiple retailers to find a match. Fortunately, a talented friend stepped in.
“Luckily, one of our friends makes baby clothes and using an adult pair of trousers made them for us – which we were extremely grateful for.”
Capturing the Day
To document the celebrations, the couple turned to trusted wedding photographer James Williams Photography. Having a pre-existing connection meant everyone felt at ease in front of the lens from the moment he arrived.
“Kiel has known James for about 20 years, so choosing a photographer was easy for us… plus his photos are amazing. I had met James a couple of times and he is so friendly and makes you feel comfortable straight away which I felt was a big part of helping who you choose to photograph your wedding. James is someone who just clicks with people straight away, no matter who they are. My bridal party and family got on with him straight away and felt comfortable around him.”
Styling the Barn
The couple made excellent use of our historic Barn, styling the space with an array of personal and interactive details that kept guests entertained throughout the spring wedding day.
“We used Happycakies for our aisle backdrop, hired carnival games which the guests loved, and a big wooden ‘Mr and Mrs’ sign which looked lovely next to the top table. Those were easy choices as we had seen them on Facebook and loved the look of those items.”
When it came to dressing the tables, the couple turned to one of our highly recommended suppliers, Gina at Enchanted Gardens, to turn their color palette into a reality.
“We went to multiple wedding fairs to get ideas on how to decorate the tables, cake makers, hair, makeup etc. It was really exciting planning every aspect of the wedding, but it can get overwhelming with all the different styles you see and different suppliers you speak to as you end up loving different variations.”
“We didn’t know how we wanted our tables to look but once we met with our florist, Gina of Enchanted Gardens – recommended by Healing Manor, this all fell into place quickly. With our colour scheme, Gina went through different flowers and different options of how we could dress the tables. We loved every part of what she created.”
A Crowd-Pleasing Menu & Delicious Cake
Food is always a central element of any great celebration, and Abigail and Kiel wanted to ensure their guests were treated to a relaxed, delicious menu that everyone would love. They opted for an informal, summer-inspired BBQ for their main wedding breakfast.
“We have been to different weddings where people forget what food they ordered, wish they hadn’t ordered what they did or just didn’t fancy what they had chosen on the day. It was after attending my sister’s wedding who had a bbq where we thought this is perfect, who doesn’t love a bbq! We are so glad we did this and everyone we spoke to enjoyed the food. In the evening we had a buffet and we chose options we knew everyone loved such as pizza.”
For dessert, a spectacular three-tiered cake took centre-stage, made by a talented family friend.
“The cake was absolutely amazing. I sent some photos of inspo I had seen online and she created this for us. We chose chocolate, Victoria sponge and Biscoff- all layers were delicious!“
Moments to Remember
When reflecting on the day, the couple found it hard to narrow down their favorite memories, but the ceremony and family moments stood out above all else.
For Kiel, the highlights were simple.
“My favourite part of the day was seeing our 18 month old and Abi walk down the aisle. Also, the buffet!”
For Abigail, the excitement of the morning and the element of surprise made the day incredibly special.
“I don’t think I can choose just one part of the day, I loved getting ready and it was perfect having my little one with us for this. No one had seen his outfit beforehand (only myself and Kiel) and we knew everyone’s hearts would melt as soon as they saw him. I was so excited to walk down the aisle and for Kiel and everyone to see my dress.
“I asked people what they thought my dress might look like and everyone thought I was going to wear a tight/fishtail dress. Knowing mine was the opposite to this just made it even more exciting as I knew everyone would be surprised. The food was amazing and the speeches were lovely with these coming from my dad and Kiel. It was a special moment.”

The team went above and beyond from the moment we walked through the door to view the venue, to when we checked out the day after the wedding. Tia especially was amazing. She kept in touch with us regularly, was quick to respond to any questions we had, and on the day she continuously made sure we had everything we needed.”
“Everything about the venue is perfect! The grounds are beautiful and we loved that everything was in the Barn so guests didn’t have to travel from one venue to another. All of my family travelled from away and they all booked rooms easily. As there are so many rooms, it was perfect for everyone to stay at the venue. Every member of the team leading up to the wedding and on the day were so friendly and made sure everything was perfect.”
