On a peaceful Friday October afternoon, with autumn settling softly around the grounds of Healing Manor, Ruth and Jan tied the knot in a warm and joy-filled celebration at the Barn.
Their afternoon ceremony set the tone for a day that blended elegance, personality, and heartfelt surprises.
A Look of Timeless, Natural Beauty
Ruth looked radiant, her style perfectly in harmony with the season. Her hair and makeup were beautifully crafted by Lauren Aisthorpe Hair & Makeup, enhancing her natural elegance. Her dress shimmered softly in the afternoon light – a romantic, textured gown that paired flawlessly with her bouquet created by a friend of the bride, a delicate mix of soft pinks, deep roses, and lush greenery.
Jan looked wonderfully at ease beside her, dressed in a classic three-piece suit that complemented Ruth’s tones beautifully. Together on the wooden bridge, surrounded by trees turning gently towards autumn, they made a picture filled with quiet happiness and connection.

A Ceremony Filled With Meaning
Ruth walked down the aisle to an instrumental piano and cello version of John Legend’s ‘All of Me’, a serene and emotional soundtrack for an autumn barn wedding filled with love.
After saying their vows beneath the rustic beams of the Barn, the newlyweds walked out hand-in-hand to ‘Friday I’m in Love’ by The Cure – a joyful, celebratory anthem that perfectly suited the day.
Thoughtful Styling With Personal Touches
The Barn was styled by HappyCakies Venue Styling, with many thoughtful details created by Ruth and Jan themselves. The result was a warm, personal, and inviting atmosphere – just the right balance of handcrafted charm and professional polish.
A Feast to Celebrate
Guests enjoyed an array of delicious canapés, including Mini Fish & Chips, Heritage Tomatoes with mozzarella, olive crumb, rocket & pesto tart, Baked Sourdough with halloumi & sweet chilli jam and Sirloin of Beef with Yorkshire pudding, horseradish, and crushed carrot & swede.
The main meal took the form of a relaxed and flavour-packed BBQ banquet, featuring Salmon in a Bag, Iranian Lamb Kebabs, Baby Back Ribs, Halloumi & Vegetable Skewers, BBQ Pulled Pork and New Potato Salad, Leafy Greens, Coleslaw, and a Tomato, Rocket and Mozzarella salad.
To finish, guests enjoyed a beautifully presented Dessert Station, overflowing with treats such as Tarte au Citron, Chocolate Brownies, Meringue with berries and cream, Cheesecake, and Carrot Cake.
A Surprise No One Expected… Except Two
One of the most memorable parts of the day came after the speeches. Only Ruth and her daughter were in on the secret: the arrival of the Singers Secreto.
The First Dance
Ruth and Jan shared their first dance to ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ by Andy Williams, a classic that brought everyone together around the dancefloor, watching a couple absolutely overjoyed to be celebrating their new life together.
