Some summer weddings feel like they were meant to be – and that couldn’t be truer for Molly and Jake, who tied the knot on a glorious August Bank Holiday at Healing Manor. With a colourful palette, heartfelt personal touches, and a love story that started back at school, their day was a vibrant and joy-filled celebration of their journey together.
Having attended previous weddings at Healing Manor, Molly and Jake were already smitten with the venue’s beautiful grounds and charm. When they came to view it for themselves, there was just one date left for summer 2024 – the August bank holiday.
“It couldn’t have worked more perfectly,” Molly says. “It felt like it was meant to be.”
Molly and Jake first met as teenagers at Toll Bar School but didn’t reconnect until a night out years later – on a Bank Holiday weekend in August, no less. At the time, Molly was preparing to start university in Lincoln to train as a nurse, and Jake was already working as a radiographer. What followed was a blossoming relationship spent wandering the streets of Lincoln, especially around the cathedral, where Jake later proposed at the final Lincoln Christmas Market in December 2022.
Molly and Jake’s ceremony took place at the beautiful St Giles Church in Scartho, the same place where Jake’s parents were married. Molly walked down the aisle with her mum to a string rendition of ‘A Million Dreams’ from ‘The Greatest Showman‘, carrying the memory of her late father with her – his shirt and handwriting sewn into the lining of her dress, along with the paw prints of her beloved dog, Chico.
Guests were welcomed to Healing Manor in the afternoon for the summer wedding reception, with drinks, live music from The Wingmen band playing outside, and handmade lawn games crafted by Molly and her bridesmaid. It was a laid-back, joyful afternoon before the wedding breakfast, speeches, and an electric evening reception featuring a saxophonist surprise from Molly’s mum, the Healing Manor DJ, and a bustling dance floor.
Molly’s vision for their summer wedding was ‘bright and beautiful’. With bright florals in hot pinks and oranges, a moss green for the bridesmaids, and classic tuxedos for the groomsmen, the aesthetic was bold, elegant, and full of character. The couple worked with Jack Loves Jill to style the venue and tables, and the result was nothing short of magical.
Much of the décor was lovingly handcrafted by Molly and her bridesmaid, including the confetti bags, welcome signs, favour bags, and even the games. Their passion for creating a special day was poured into every detail.
Molly found the dress for her at Chloe Jane Bridal in Howden. It was a Zavana Couture gown that she initially hesitated over due to its form-fitting silhouette. With encouragement from her mum and sister, and after a wellness journey with personal trainer Paige Speed, Molly felt confident and radiant in her choice. “I lost 3 stone before the big day and felt the healthiest and happiest I’d ever been,” she says.
She paired her dress with a classic two-tier, satin-trimmed veil, Rainbow Club shoes (that were actually comfy all night long!), pearl earrings from Maison Sabben, and Megan Therese hair pins borrowed from her friend Emma- beautifully tying in her something old, new, borrowed, and blue.
Molly went for a minimalist makeup look with Jessica Ley Makeup, who got all the bridal party glammed up. Her hair was styled in a classic updo by Samantha Kate Bridal, practical and elegant to suit her thick, long locks, with bridesmaids echoing the style with pearl accents.
The bridesmaids wore moss green gowns from Six Stories which matched the flowers beautifully whils Jake, like his groomsmen, wore black tuxes Marks & Spencer. His tie and braces were from Moss Bros.
The warm and light-filled images were captured by Holly Bryan Photography, chosen for her summery, relaxed aesthetic. The couple also had a pre-wedding shoot, which made them feel more at ease in front of the camera. Videography was lovingly captured by Molly’s bridesmaid’s partner, making the footage feel all the more personal.
Healing Manor delivered a delicious wedding breakfast with thoughtful options for every dietary need – from hearty roast sirloin to a goats cheese tart for vegetarian guests. Dessert was rich chocolate brownies and refreshing vanilla and raspberry cheesecake.
The flowers, created by Seaholly Floral Design, were bursting with colour – pinks, oranges, and soft pastels in hand-tied bouquets, centrepieces, and grand milk churns to greet guests.
“Abi’s flowers are just beautiful and are done with so much thought and precision. The flowers were bright and beautiful, made up of oranges and pinks with a few lighter shades. We really wanted the flowers to stand out, it being a summer wedding.”
Entertainment was a highlight of the day, with The Wingmen Band setting the tone early on, a surprise saxophone performance, a bustling A Booth & Beyond photo booth, and incredible evening pizzas from Tredici.
Created by Deli-licious, the wedding cake was a showstopper. The flavours? A three-tier dream of double chocolate, carrot, and lemon, all surrounded by white chocolate shards and finished with floral touches.
The couple’s first dance was a blend of their favourite films: ‘Rewrite the Stars’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’ fading into ‘I’m a Believer’ from ‘Shrek’. It was as joyful and personal as the rest of the day.
Favourite Moments
For Molly, it was the moment she saw Jake’s face at the end of the aisle, and the confetti-filled walk out of the church as husband and wife.
For Jake? The moment after the speeches and first dance when he could finally relax and soak it all in.
Advice from the Newlyweds
“You’ll have the most amazing day. Try and stay planned and don’t leave things until the last minute as it will only stress you out, and you don’t need that. There will also be some sort of drama leading up to the day or on the day, but just try and relax and remember the reason why you are doing this: it’s not for everyone else – it is for you and your partner, and that’s the most important thing.”
