A guide for couples planning their day at Healing Manor – whether you’re working with 18 months or five weeks.
When it comes to wedding planning, there’s no one-size-fits-all. Some couples spend two years crafting every detail, while others plan something magical in a matter of weeks. At Healing Manor, we’ve seen it all and we’re here to say: both approaches can be perfect.
So how long does it take to plan a wedding? The answer: it depends entirely on what kind of celebration you’re envisioning, how much support you have, and what matters most to the two of you.

The Classic Timeline: 12–24 Months to Plan
This is the most traditional planning window. It gives you plenty of breathing room to book suppliers, create your dream styling vision, and make decisions at a pace that works for you.
Here’s what that journey typically looks like at Healing Manor:
12–24 Month Timeline: What to Expect
12–18 Months Before
· Book your venue and secure your ceremony date
· Research and secure your suppliers—photographer, florist, stylist, entertainment
· Start mapping out a guest list and set your budget
· If you’re having a civil ceremony, confirm availability with the Registrar early
6–9 Months Before
· Confirm ceremony and reception timings
· Finalise your key suppliers and ensure any venue requirements (insurance, PAT, risk assessments) are submitted
· Send save-the-dates or invites
· Encourage your guests to book accommodation
2–3 Months Before
· Finalise your menu and running order
· Collect guest pre-orders and dietary requirements
· Start working on your table plan
6 Weeks Before
· Attend your final planning meeting with the Healing Manor Weddings & Events team
· Confirm everything: your numbers, timings, layout, music choices, and pre-orders
Top Tip: Once your suppliers, styling, and menu are all locked in, step away from Pinterest.
There’s nothing worse than a last-minute change of heart because you’ve seen someone else’s idea online. Trust your decisions and remember why you chose them. Leave space for inspiration, but avoid overwhelming yourself by trying to incorporate everything.

The Reality of Long-Lead Planning
Even with a 12–24 month lead time, many couples find themselves with large gaps between decisions. To avoid stress or miscommunication, we always recommend creating a timeline of key decision dates—when final details are due to your caterer, venue, and florist—and work backwards. This way, nothing gets missed, and you’ll always know what’s coming next.
Last-Minute Weddings: Yes, It’s Absolutely Doable
Contrary to popular belief, a stunning, meaningful wedding can absolutely be planned in just a few weeks. In fact, our very own owners, Charlotte and Steve, planned their wedding in just five weeks.

What Does a 4–6 Week Wedding Plan Look Like?
· Confirm your venue and ceremony availability immediately
· Choose your core priorities (food, guests, photographer, flowers, dress)
· Let go of the Pinterest-perfect pressure and lean on your suppliers
· Think off-the-rack for dresses and suits—Net-A-Porter, ASOS, or boutiques with sample sales are your best friend
· Choose a simplified styling plan and trust your florist or stylist with a creative brief rather than exact specifications
Charlotte and Steve opted for seasonal flowers, a candle-lit aesthetic, and a team of trusted suppliers to bring the vision together without fuss.
“We gave them an overview of what we wanted and let them work their magic. No spreadsheets, no last-minute second guesses. Just a day that felt like us.”

If You’re Planning Last-Minute – Focus on What Matters Most
Don’t get lost in the noise. Decide what’s most important to you:
· Is it the food?
· The ceremony itself?
· The people in the room?
Then allocate your time and budget around that. There’s no need to do everything.
“A wedding doesn’t have to be planned over two years to be perfect. If the thought of long planning feels overwhelming, just know that you can absolutely create something beautiful in a few weeks. The important thing is celebrating your love.”

At Healing Manor, we’ve supported couples who’ve planned their wedding in 18 months and those who’ve pulled everything together in under a month. The timeline is yours to create.
Whether you’re booking well in advance or planning a whirlwind celebration, the goal remains the same: a day that reflects you, shared with the people you love.
If you’re not sure where to start, or how long you might need, speak to our Weddings & Events team. We’ll help you work backwards from your ideal date, or support you in putting together a last-minute plan that still feels considered and beautiful.
