On a sunny Saturday in July 2024, Emma and James celebrated their love in the most picturesque way at Healing Manor Hotel. Nestled on the edge of the Wolds, our Lincolnshire wedding venue holds a special place in their hearts, making it the perfect choice for their big day.
“We live in Healing and have always loved the Manor. We often walk our dog, Jax, in the fields around the Manor. We’ve attended a few other weddings here and have always loved the venue so much.”
From the stunning grounds to the intimate spaces, Healing Manor became the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
James proposed in February 2022 during a weekend away in the Lake District, a trip he’d planned months in advance for Emma’s December birthday.
“We wanted to go on some walks as we had our dog Jax with us. We decided to do the Catbells hike and James proposed at the top. It was absolutely perfect.”
Emma and James envisioned a relaxed and seamless celebration, with everything taking place in one location. As a local Lincolnshire wedding venue, Healing Manor made that dream come true. The day began in the elegant bridal suite, where Emma got ready with her four bridesmaids and her mum. The Barn then became the centre of the celebration, hosting their ceremony, drinks reception, BBQ and evening party.
The décor was timeless and understated, a combination of white, olive greens, and gold tones.
“We really wanted a classic style for our wedding, one that would never date. We chose a theme of white and olive greens with gold tones. We had some amazing suppliers who helped us to achieve the most perfect decor, and it all came together exactly how we wanted.”
Gina from The Enchanted Garden crafted stunning floral arrangements, with bouquets, floor sprays, and bud vases that perfectly complemented the theme.
“We chose clean and classic white and ivory flowers with lots of green foliage and she created the most gorgeous pieces for us. A lot of the flowers were grown locally in Healing which made it even more special.”
“Jack Loves Jill did our venue styling. Amy provided the beautiful foliage backdrop for our ceremony and styled with fairy lights, neon sign and lanterns down the aisle, as well as all of our table styling.”
Emma’s dress was a stunning Madi Lane Bridal design from Coates Couture. Although she had a specific dress in mind, it was a different one that turned out to be ‘the one’ for her Lincolnshire wedding.
“After trying on a few different styles, I tried the one I went for and it just wasn’t quite right. By this point, the girls at Coates Couture knew exactly what I was looking for and pulled out the most beautiful Madi Lane dress. It had everything I was looking for.”
The bride paired her gown with a long Richard Designs veil and kept her accessories simple to let the dress shine. Her hair accessories were New Look and she wore ASOS shoes.
On the wedding morning, Emma got ready with the help of Lauren Chapman at LC Makeup Artistry and Emma-Jayne at Mirror Mirror.
“Lauren is a friend and I knew I wanted her for my wedding makeup. She makes everyone look and feel incredible and made the morning so special. I went for quite a natural bridal look which meant my natural skin and freckles came through, with a nude/pink lip.”
“Emma-Jayne did my hair exactly how I imagined it in an up-do. It was perfect and lasted all day long. She incorporated my hair accessories and veil and I couldn’t have been happier. They were both amazing and we had the most amazing, fun and chilled morning together.”
James opted for a Santorini Grey three-piece suit from Suit Culture. The groom and his men wore olive green ties and pocket squares from Jacqueline Louise Bridal that tied the bridal party’s look together perfectly.
Emma and James’ civil ceremony was held in the historic wedding barn at Healing Manor, a beautiful choice of Lincolnshire wedding venue.
“I had my bridesmaids and maid of honour walk before me, and then my dad walked me down the aisle. We can’t thank Hannah and the team enough for making this run so smoothly and in time with the music. We were nervous beforehand but they made it really easy. I chose a cover version by Samantha Harvey of Shania Twain’s ‘From this Moment On’. I fell in love with this specific cover and couldn’t imagine walking down to anything else.”
After the ceremony, guests were treated to drinks and canapés in the Manor’s gardens before enjoying a relaxed BBQ wedding breakfast.
“We managed to choose one of the hottest Saturdays of the year, so the BBQ went down a treat. We wanted a less formal feel for our wedding breakfast so the BBQ was a great option.”
For the evening, the couple chose a taco station served outdoors—a fun and memorable touch that their guests loved.
As a little extra, Emma and James hired the ice cream bike from Happycakies Venue Decor.
“It arrived after our wedding breakfast and was another big hit. Everyone cleared them out of ice cream!”
The rustic wedding cake, created by Polka-Dotty Cakes by Michelle, featured three tiers in madeira, lemon, and chocolate orange. This was decorated with fresh flowers from The Enchanted Garden.
Every special moment was captured beautifully by James Green Studio, photographers Emma and James had admired for years.
“James and Merika were amazing. We had met them a few times at other weddings and their photos are always incredible, so we knew for a long time we would want them for our day. They just make everyone feel so comfortable and make you feel like you’re spending time with friends. We had an engagement photoshoot the year before too so we already knew what to expect. They are the loveliest people and did anything they could to help us with anything on the day.”
The couple’s wedding film, created by Lincolnshire Videography, captured the emotion of the day with candid shots and meaningful details.
“Stefan’s videos are literally feature films. Each one is completely different and unique, and captures all of the most special moments from the day. Stefan was brilliant on the day; he blended into the background to get candid shots and captured so many special moments that we didn’t see. We’re not the most confident in front of a camera but he managed to make us feel comfortable and at ease.”
As the sun set, the Barn came alive with music from Mr T & Co, who had everyone on their feet dancing the night away. Guests also enjoyed a mini golf course from HappyCakies, a playful addition that proved to be a hit on the warm summer evening.
“We provided a playlist before the wedding to give the DJ an idea of the type of music we wanted. They were playing all of the requests from our guests and we could not fault them: they kept the dancefloor going all night long.”
Emma and James chose Kodaline’s ‘The One’ for their first dance.
“We struggled to choose a first dance song for a while as we couldn’t decide exactly what we wanted. When we listened to this song, it fit so perfectly and we knew that was the perfect song for us.”
Reflecting on their wedding, Emma says it’s impossible to pick just one favourite moment.
“There were so many amazing parts of the day that I loved. It was so special for us to have everyone we loved – all of our friends and family – join us for our wedding day. Being able to spend time with each other and with everyone else really made it for us: it really was the best day of our lives.”
Advice for other couples
“Take it all in and enjoy every minute. Even if the planning can get a little stressful at times, it is all worth it on the day. I didn’t need to worry about anything on the day as Healing Manor and the suppliers had everything under control and it all ran so smoothly and perfectly.”
“Don’t forget to add in those little details that are special to you. We had our dog come for photos and we incorporated photos of him into our table numbers. It’s the little things that just make it your day”
