The inspiration for Billie and Edward’s summer wedding at Healing Manor Hotel in August 2023 was pure romance – with a soft and pretty colour scheme of white and palest pink enhancing the rustic Barn.
On 28 August 2023, Billie and Edward wed in a romantic civil ceremony in the Barn, followed by a fun reception for their closest family and friends. The couple adopted a DIY approach, asking Love in the Limelight to help with styling and calling on their talented contacts to help them create a romantic look. The couple’s five year old daughter requested the pink elements which, combined with elegant white touches, looked soft and romantic.
“The whole day was held at Healing Manor – it was perfect.We got married in the Barn, followed by a reception. We loved the beautiful surroundings. The barn, the hotel rooms and food are fantastic, and there were plenty of hotel rooms for guests to stay in.”
The couple met at work thirteen years ago, and Edward proposed in a Christmas-themed Escape Room in July 2022.
“Edward did not know it was Christmas-themed until we got there and an Elf welcomed us – it gave us lots of laughs! The escape room was to find keys to open boxes. The final box had a card in which said, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ and then Eddie pulled out the ring.”
“Love In The Limelight was absolutely amazing and she brought my idea to life. My theme, if anything, was ‘romantic’ – I wanted whites and pale pinks. The pink was to include our five year old daughter in the wedding as she loves pink and asked for lots of it.”
“My mother’s dearest friend did all of our flowers as a gift. She asked me for some inspiration and when she delivered them on the morning, I was amazed at what she had created. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were inspired by my daughter’s choice as she loved the name ‘Baby’s Breath’. I was relieved she didn’t like the name ‘Thistle’!”
The photographers for the day were James and Merika Green of James Green Studio.
“They were my choice from day one. For years I have seen them capture the most beautiful wedding shots. James and Merika were a dream – they were so nice to get on with and made everything go so smoothly. They were such fun that we said we wished they were there as guests instead.”
Continuing the romance was Billie’s beautiful Sophia Tolli gown, bought at Coates Couture, which she wore with a Sophia Tolli veil.
“The ladies in there were incredible. I tried on about ten dresses and I chose my dress because it was felt ‘fun’. It was something I felt both beautiful in and able to have a good boogie in.”
“My shoes were from John Lewis although I was in flip-flops for most of the day in the end! My pearl jewellery – a necklace and earrings – were bought by my husband and delivered to me on the morning of the wedding.”
Billie asked Jade Clay Hair & Makeup Artist to create soft, romantic make-up whilst Mirror Mirror Cleethorpes styled her hair.
“I have always loved Jade’s bridal make-up looks. She did my make-up perfectly – exactly how I asked. It was not too overstated and glam – the remit was ‘romantic’.”
“My hair was half up and half down with some curls added. I had lots of pearl pins added into my hair so when I removed the veil later on in the day it wouldn’t look plain. I made the very bold choice a month before the wedding to go fully blonde which I was nervous about but, looking back, it was a great decision.”
The groom and his son dressed in tail suits from Coates Couture.
“Our seven year old son wore the same as my husband – tails. He even wore a top hat which I think was the cutest thing I have ever seen.”
The bride walked down the Barn aisle to ‘The Blower’s Daughter’ by Damien Rice, on the arm of her father.
“The song is very special to me and my husband. My dad walked me down the aisle. My children went first, after the bridesmaids, and I think they stole the show.”
“We chose standard vows. I found finishing my vows hard enough – I couldn’t stop laughing as the seriousness of the moment was too much for me.”
“I think my favourite part of the day was seeing my children sat watching us when we finished our vows. It was such a special moment.”
The music for the wedding reception was provided by acoustic duo The Mardy Johnny Depps.
“I always knew that I wanted these guys. I have seen them play lots over the years and we are big fans of their style and music.”
For wedding food, Billie and Edwards opted for a three-course wedding breakfast.
‘We decided on one option each and then had a competition to see who would get more people choosing our options. The food was amazing. We have eaten at Healing Manor lots over the years so we knew what to expect.“
“The wedding cake was made by my beautiful mum who owns Grazing Platters. The cake was a surprise – I didn’t release she had done one.I also had a donut stand supplied by La-Di-Da Desserts. I chose this because I am not a big cake person but I LOVE donuts.”
“For the evening food we chose two food stations: a taco station and a posh dog station. All of the food was incredible.”
The newly-weds took to the dance-floor for their first dance, an acoustic version of ‘Simply the Best’ before partying the night away.
