Last month we had the pleasure of hosting the most lovely wedding for Mr and Mrs Meffen…also known as Lucy and Scott.

Scott and Lucy

Their beautiful wedding took place in our stunning Wedding Barn, which originated from the 1700’s and was lovingly rebuilt in 2014 to complement the Manor’s outbuildings.

Styled by Love in the Limelight, the wooden beams of the chapel were entwined with fairy lights which twinkled as first the bridesmaids, dressed in sage green and carrying bouquets of beautiful white roses, created by The Enchanted Garden, walked down the aisle. Then, all heads were turned, as Lucy, in a stunning lace fishtail dress, made her way to meet Scott to ‘The One’ by Kodaline.

Under a shower of confetti, the happy couple left the chapel to the ‘Best Day of My Life’ by American Author’s. The weather was kind – as it should be, but we know what May can be like – and guests were able to enjoy Pimm’s outside as Inspire Images captured beautiful photos of the bridal party with the loveliest of backdrop of our idyllic gardens.

After everyone was seated for dinner Mr and Mrs Meffen entered the room, and were treated to speeches, and raised glasses, before being able to enjoy their first meal together as husband and wife. The wedding breakfast included either prawn cocktail or chicken liver and bacon pâté, apple and vanilla chutney, brioche to start, and was followed by either roast pork or chicken with creamed potato, roast potato and seasonal vegetables, or sweet onion and goats cheese tartan, grilled courgette, broad beans, and baby spinach. Delicious!

Before the dessert was served – either the most decadent dark and white chocolate brownie, a lighter than light vanilla cheesecake, or a beautifully refreshing lemon tart – there was a 15-minute break for a song chosen by family from Denmark – My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean – which was a wonderful surprise for the bride!

As more guests arrived to celebrate the couple’s happy day, Mr and Mrs Meffen cut their beautiful cake, and hit the dance floor for their first dance (of many) which was ‘Dreams’ by Gabrielle. They danced well into the evening, enjoying the tunes played by the DJ, who was set up in the chapel, stopping to mingle, enjoy a choice of BBQ food, laugh a lot, and take photos in the photo booth.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Meffen, what a wonderful wedding it was
