Healing Manor Hotel and The Pig & Whistle are VisitEngland Award Winners! This June we were delighted to be awarded a Bronze Award in the Resilience and innovation Category of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
Thanks to our winning in three categories of the local Visit Lincoln Awards (Pub of the Year, Taste of England (Taste Lincolnshire and Resilience and Innovation) Healing Manor Hotel were put through to the final, national rounds to gain country-wide recognition.
Also competing in our category were Langley Castle Hotel and St Luke’s Bombed Out Church C.I.C. in Liverpool and another representative of the county was International Bomber Command Centre, up for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
In a magical ceremony hosted on Platform 9 and 3/4 at Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, director Charlotte and Chef Patron Steven Bennett met other nominees from around the country and were thrilled to be awarded a VisitEngland Bronze award in the Resilience and Innovation Category.
Healing Manor’s story of resilience and innovation began when Charlotte and Steve took on the business in 2018, and was exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, during which the hotel and its offering had to pivot to support its team and local community.
The VisitEngland judges were impressed by Healing Manor Hotel’s ability to ‘adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic at pace not only as a business but to really work with the community to ensure people’s welfare… the submission covered all bases in terms of their resilience and innovation across the board. Not only was there a focus on the review side in terms of the food offer but there was a focus on marketing, socials, investment in IT and working with the wider community and local businesses’.
Speaking about the accolade, director Charlotte Bennett says ‘What an honour to have received Bronze in the resilience and innovation category. While this award reflects on our immediate pivot during COVID and the lockdowns in 2020. It also represents the huge changes we have made as a small and independent business. Bringing our supply chain and carbon footprint to the forefront of our story but to completely transition our team culture. Turning the perception of working in hospitality on its head’.
