Interiors may still be off-limits, but we’re going to embrace the outdoors and open our stunning Terrace and Grounds once again to you all, until 16th May so you can enjoy a takeaway, drinks or dining in the Garden.
The Portman Terrace overlooks our stunning grounds, which is why we thought it would be a shame not to open them up for bookings from 15th April and invite you all to embrace the outdoors with us to indulge in some early al fresco dining.
For those who miss out on booking a Terrace table, guests are more than welcome to order a The Lincolnshire Kitchen Take-Away, select ‘Collection Takeaway’, bring a blanket and enjoy the grounds that way. Please be aware that our Terrace area is not under cover, so we are in the hands of the elements a little. If you feel you are not able to enjoy your booking in the Garden due to bad weather, you are more than welcome to order a takeaway instead.
To keep you as safe as possible, we will be operating a Covid-safe one-way system for the duration of our Take-Away in the Garden offering. Once you arrive through The Pig & Whistle entrance, you will be shown to your table, where we’ll provide table service. For those enjoying a ‘Collection Take-Away’ with a picnic blanket in tow, again you will arrive via the main Pig & Whistle entrance and be guided to a table where we ask one member of your party to await collection of your food and drinks order.
Guests wishing to order additional drinks, who are sat on the grass areas, can re-enter The Pig & Whistle via the front door again, maintaining our one-way system and order drinks at the bar. You must follow government guidelines in regards to wearing a mask and socially distancing.
When it comes to bathroom breaks, when it’s not booked, The Barn will be available for toilet use. When The Barn is booked out, you can head to The Pig & Whistle front door, use the toilets and follow the strict one-way system that we will have in place.
Please ensure that you read our full terms and conditions below, before booking a table. When you book your table and food order, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.

That said, in the case of walk-ins, if we have space it will be offered to you, similarly, if you’d like to dine on the grass again, it will be offered to you. Please note that a £10 per person pre-authorisation is required upon booking and no-show’s will be charged at this price – this is due to the small number of tables on-site. We ask that if you do need to cancel or postpone your booking, that you contact us with 48 hours notice, where possible to allow our team to resell your table.
Please ensure you that you have informed us of any dietary requirements upon ordering, via the ‘Special Requests’ box. Please note that our tables are located between The Terrace and Garden and are currently not under cover.
We do ask that items from the Grazing Menu are pre-ordered, however our Regular Main Menus and Drinks Menu can be ordered from on the day.
Guests are welcome Monday – Wednesday to order a ‘collection takeaway’ and enjoy it in the garden, however the gardens will only be staffed Thursday – Sunday. In this instance, we ask guests to book their take-aways normal for collection. On collection, guests are then welcome to park up and take your orders around to the gardens to enjoy. If there is a table spare, you are welcome to use it. ALL rubbish must be disposed of appropriately and NO OTHER drinks and/or food are permitted to be consumed on site, under any circumstances. Additional drinks will be available to order Thursday – Sunday, however with a very small team on hand, we highly recommend placing pre-orders.
Opt for ‘Garden Dining’ to reserve your table Thursday – Sunday and order your take-away on the pages which follow. Alternatively, if there aren’t any slots left, opt for a ‘Collection Take-Away’, bring a blanket and enjoy your take-away on the grass.
