Booking Terms and Conditions

Guests dining before 7pm will be allocated a two-hour time slot. When menus are available after 7pm, you are welcome to your table for the remainder of the evening, until the end of service. We have a limited number of large tables, so if we don’t have one available at your requested time, please feel free to contact our team or request for two near one another.

Please arrive no later than 10 minutes after your booking, as we will not be able to reserve your table after this time. We also ask that you arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to your booking, as we cannot guarantee that we will have a spare table available. You are more than welcome to pre-book a table on the terrace to enjoy drinks, if the weather permits.

Winter Serving Times – Please Read

Please note that we have recently launched our new summer serving times and have made changes to our service. We now serve drinks and snacks in the bar and pub area of the Pig & Whistle. This is alongside our Sunday lunch offering and Sunday Lunches. Our lunch, bar, à la carte, tasting and afternoon tea menus are served in our Pig & Whistle restaurant (formally known as The Portman). We offer a small number of tables on our beautiful terrace and in good weather, these are allocated on a fist come first served basis.

Reservation fee

Card details are required at the time of booking to secure the reservation. Please note that for afternoon tea and tasting menu bookings, we required a minimum of 48-hours notice for cancellation without charge. This is due to the nature of the preparation work that goes into these bookings.

Card details are required at the time of booking to secure the reservation. In the unfortunate event that you must cancel or postpone your booking with less than 72-hours’ notice and we are subsequently unable to re-sell the table, a late cancellation fee of £10 per person will be charged to the guaranteed card, or £40 per person, if booked onto our seasonal tasting menu.

Guests dining in a group of 10 or more, will be asked to pay the bill with no more than two separate transactions. A pre-order will be required no later than 7 days prior to the booking. Booking Your Table & Dietary Requirements

Pre-booking is essential, and we cannot guarantee you a table, or service, without a booking. Our menu, as ever is full of delicious locally sourced, seasonal and sustainable dishes. If you have any dietary requirements or specific requests, please let us know upon booking, or at least 48 hours prior to your booking.

Whilst we have separate perpetration areas, fryers and equipment for dietary considerations such as nut allergies and gluten allergies, we do handle these products within our kitchen.

Dogs & Other Animals

Dogs are welcome in The Pig & Whistle bar and outside areas. They can dine from their favourite dog-friendly menu. We ask that you ensure they are kept on a lead and don’t sit on furniture. If you are planning your pooch, please do let us know upon booking so we can sure we have a table to allocate to you and your four-legged friend.

Children

If you are dining with children, please be responsible for their movements, as we have to ensure that all of our guests are able to enjoy a pleasurable dining experience.

Our Grounds

Please note that our grounds are our own private gardens. If you are joining us over night, for a drink, or to enjoy some of our delicious award-winning food, please enjoy them at your own leisure.

We are home to a swan, some ducks and other wildlife. We ask that you respect their space. They especially don’t like it when young children and sometimes adults too, run at them or scream at them, so we politely ask that you refrain from doing this. They are friendly and might come and visit you for a bite to eat. We do ask that you don’t feed them, unless a member of our team is able to provide you with ‘duck snacks’. They live on a very healthy and species-friendly diet. Sid (aka the swan) might give you ‘the hungry eyes’ but he’s a great con artist, so don’t fall for it.

If you are booking to enjoy Afternoon Tea or any other menus which will be on offer throughout the summer in our grounds, please refrain from bringing any drinks or food on site with you. We are not licensed for this and it puts our Team in an awkward position when they have to take it off you, or ask you to leave. Our chefs are all in AA and removed bottles of beer/spirits or anything else you might think about bringing with you, won’t be good for their livers, or their concentration when they are cooking your food…

Please do not fish in our waters.

Please do not encourage your dogs to jump in our waters. The moat, in particular, is mineral-rich, which isn’t very good for your four-legged friends’ tummies.

Please keep an eye out on our ‘Events’ page for latest events and offers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Safety and service is our upmost priority.
